Those new to California State University, Long Beach or and those interested in becoming more involved in campus life are encouraged to attend Week of Welcome, sponsored by the Associated Students Commissions. This event will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29 through Thursday, Jan. 31, from 11 AM to 2 PM each day.
During Week of Welcome, the Central Quad will serve as the home to many clubs and campus organizations recruiting new members. The ASI Resource Fair, designed to showcase the many facets of ASI, will kick things off on Tuesday, followed by the Student Organization Fairs on Wednesday and Thursday.
Other highlights of the event include a photo booth where students can have free pictures taken, demonstrations, showcases, food, prizes, giveaways and more.
ASI Chief Programming Officer Irving Barcenas said the event will demonstrate many aspects of CSULB life that students are often unaware of. “The significance of the event is to allow students to interact, explore and find their outlet within the university,” he said.
Local pride with a vintage style is the theme of Week of Welcome and eight fact-filled posters will be displayed with information about the university and the city of Long Beach itself.
“This year we are really trying to highlight local pride, for the city, the university and the CSULB student organizations,” Barcenas said.
