What is the Beach Pride Center?  E-mail
The Beach Pride Center is home to the Long Beach spirit programs- the Cheer Team, Dance Team, Beach Band, Mascot and ASI Commissions. The Center’s purpose is to increase campus spirit and involvement by promoting upcoming events, providing extracurricular activities, as well as offering opportunities for student leadership and personal growth. The Beach Pride Center also offers reward programs for students, coordinates game time activities, and promotes upcoming campus events. All these services enhance the college experience for CSULB students, and promote “Beach Pride” throughout the campus and surrounding community.

In 2001, the Beach Pride Center opened its doors after the passage of the Beach Pride referendum, which provided additional funds from student fees to establish a tradition of excellence in spirit programs and athletics. Housed in the University Student Union, the Beach Pride Center creates and supports programs that keep the student body involved in their University. Being the center of many different activities, the Beach Pride Center holds many resources into helping students become more involved with events on their campus, as well as giving them the tools to make their own events. No matter what year you are at CSULB, the Beach Pride Center is a get great place to come and get involved in the life of the campus. We hold the spirt on campus and we want you to be a part of that!

Dance Team Places Second In National Championship!

Long Beach, CA—The California State University, Long Beach Dance Team added more awards to its trophy case when it took second place at the 2011 Universal Dance Association College National Championship at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. Only thirteen teams were selected to perform at the competition, which occurred Jan. 14-17, and the CSULB Dance Team placed second in the championship for jazz. It also placed ninth in hip-hop—a field from which the Dance Team has long-been absent at the
national level.

In addition to technical difficulty and synchronization, the team was also judged on spacing, creativity and musicality. The dancers’ ability to rank highly in all these categories is a testament to their talent, hard work and the leadership of head coach Rey Lozano, who has been with the team for more than 20 years, and assistant coach Angela Andros.

Nationally ranked, the Dance Team is a competitive, all-female squad that performs at basketball games, and campus and community events.

The CSULB community can look forward to even more great strides from the Dance Team in the coming year.
