The AS Commissions' main purpose is to plan, coordinate and execute specific programs and services for the CSULB student body. Each Commission is led by a student who has been appointed by the Chief Programming Officer and confirmed by the Senate. With a wide variety of activities including Community Service, Entertainment, Special Events, Sports and Spirit, and more, the commissions are the perfect place to start your AS involvement. The Commission meetings are open to all CSULB students and meet throughout the semester on a regular basis. If you would like to contact one of the commissioners below please call (562) 985-2535.

 

ARTS - Promotes all forms of the arts at CSULB and provides input for the USU Permanent Art Collection. Some events include ARTS Week and ASI Student Leaders Night.

AWARDS - Is responsible for providing an annual awards selection process and for producing the AS Awards and Installation ceremony.

COMMUNITY SERVICE - Seeks to improve the relationship between the students of CSULB and the community through community-service activities including blood drives, Cherishing the Children Toy Drive and Make a Difference Day.

CONSERVATION - Seeks to create awareness and knowledge regarding environmental concerns within the campus community and create programs that increase this awareness, including Earth Day and Eco Week activities.

ENTERTAINMENT - Seeks to bring people together in an informal university setting and provides entertainment and fun activities for the campus community, such as Battle of the Bands.

PUBLIC RELATIONS- Seeks to promote awareness and advance a positive image of ASI and its various programs. This commission is responsible for assisting with events such as the Long Beach Marathon and Belmont Shores Holiday Parade.

SPECIAL EVENTS - Plans events with the direction of the current administration. It will oversee events such as Rock the Vote and Beach Pride Poolside.

SPORTS & SPIRIT - Is responsible for organizing and coordinating events to promote support for the University's Athletic programs. The commission is responsible for planning pep rallies, bus trips and Homecoming.

STUDENT ORIENTATION - Is responsible for the planning and execution of Week of Welcome in the Fall and Spring, as well as working closely with Outreach and SOAR on events such as Open House and Summer and Winter SOAR Programs.
