Join Beach Pride Events for a poetry workshop and open mic session with poet, writer, and CSULB alumna, Jessi Jarrin. \NJessi Jarrin is dedicated to creating an environment for students to grieve and celebrate their stories. She will begin the event with a writing workshop, guiding students through the art of self-expression and self-reflection. Later, students are given the opportunity to share poetry, songs, rap, short stories, and other forms of free-spoken words in a small and intimate environment.\NThis event is open to experienced poets, new poets, and any students looking for a space to share the highs and lows of quarantine. Students are also encouraged to attend the workshop and support the open mic, even if they choose not to perform. Jessi also serves as a contributing writer for Antifragile and The Daily 49er and is the founder of "Grieving is Good for You," a virtual poetry workshop centered on the importance of expressing one’s joy and grief, launched early this year.
