T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson are writing partners, co-showrunners, and executive producers. As a team, they have worked on the television dramas “The Chi,” “Shooter,” “Animal Kingdom,” and “Narcos,” among other shows. They are the co-showrunners of “Bel-Air” on Peacock.
T.J. grew up in a farm town in upstate New York and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1996. He went on to serve in an M1A1 tank battalion at Fort Carson, Colorado achieving the rank of Captain. In early 2001, T.J. left the Army to pursue his writing dreams and moved to New York City, where he worked a corporate job by day, and took writing courses by night. After building up a portfolio, T.J. moved to Los Angeles in 2004 and worked as a sales rep for a lighting company until 2008, when he and Rasheed were hired to write for the Fox TV series, “Lie to Me.” T.J. lives in Los Feliz with his wife and four children.
Rasheed grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he fell in love with reading, writing, and television because there was little else to do there. He graduated from Georgetown University and worked in D.C. for several child advocacy groups as a communications manager and speech writer. Once he moved to L.A., he spent six year as an assistant to television executives before getting staffed on his first show, “Lie to Me.” Rasheed lives in Pasadena with his lovely husband and two adorable children.
