Mitali Jain
Mitali Jain is a third-year undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor's in nutrition and dietetics. After graduation, she plans to explore careers in her field and earn a master's degree. Jain was born in India and arrived in the United States at age fourteen. She is a first-generation student with a passion for student advocacy.
Mitali has been involved with Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) since her first semester on campus. She joined Beach Team and later the University Student Union Board of Trustees (USUBOT). Within USUBOT, she served as chair of the services committee, where they worked to approve Southland Credit Union as a vendor within the University Student Union (USU).
In her second year, Jain was elected to USUBOT again and served as board chair. During her term, the board approved Shake Smart as the new vendor within the Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC). She was also involved in the opening of the ASI Beach Kitchen with fellow ASI leaders and management. Jain made it a priority to outreach to students to hear feedback and concerns.
Mitali serves as a President’s Ambassador, which allows her to always represent the university and the campus President with the highest standards on and off-campus. She is also a member of the Student Dietetic Association.
Jain started her college journey online and struggled to find campus resources like many others. She joined student government because she knew other students were experiencing the same challenges, and she aimed to advocate for and help her peers. Her goal is to continue putting student’s needs first and connecting them with the available campus resources. She aims to increase food availability, prioritize student’s health and safety on campus and engaging with students throughout her term. Jain hopes to promote involvement opportunities and collaboration between students and ASI.
