Lizbeth Velasquez is a fourth year political science major with a concentration in law and public policy. Lizbeth’s parents emigrated from Mexico to East Los Angeles where she also grew up. She attended Downey High School with the goal of reaching higher education and being the first in her family to receive a college degree. Her experience in high school set her out to be a leader; becoming co-editor-in-chief of yearbook and later captain of track and field.
Leen Almahdi is a fourth year student pursuing a degree in dietetics and food administration with a nutrition and dietetics concentration and a sociology minor. Leen was born and raised in Los Angeles to Syrian immigrant parents and attended Palisades Charter High School. In her last years there, Leen became heavily involved in student organizations due to the hostile environment she experienced fueled by the political climate at the time.
Reyalyn Villegas is a fourth-year student pursuing a degree in molecular cell biology and physiology. She was born and raised in the Philippines prior to immigrating to California. She attended Cypress High School where she became heavily involved in student government by serving as secretary for both junior and senior class government. With the goal to continue to serve students and advocate for their needs, she made it her mission to get involved at Long Beach State.
