Construction Notices

The University Student Union (USU) remains closed to pedestrian access for the duration of construction on the Future U project. Construction is anticipated to be complete by summer 2028.

Demolition of the University Dining Plaza (UDP) is complete.

From July 16 through Aug. 14, 2026, a new utility vault wall will be constructed along the ADA pathway near the Friendship Stairs. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Until July 25, 2026 the ADA access ramp at the southern section of Friendship Stairs will be closed. Please follow posted signage and the designated alternative ADA routes shown on the disruption notice. The work area will be fenced to maintain pedestrian safety, and flaggers will be on site during material deliveries as needed. After, July 25, full ADA access will reopen.

Review map below for detours and accessible paths around the construction fencing. Also visit the CSULB campus map, ensure the “Future U” layer is enabled.
