We all know Halloween is the season for costumes, treats, frights and screams. For all those ghouls, ghosts and zombies working hard to scare up some fun, hunger is bound to strike.
That’s why I’m giving you eight deliciously devious snacks that can help you fend off those hungry creatures, and help you survive the night of fright!
I’m sure you know a spooky friend or two who’d love to sink their teeth into these tasty Halloween snacks so try them out and see which one’s good enough to tame even the hungriest of beasts!
MUMMY SAUSAGES

This quick snack is so easy even your mummy can do it! Simply grab some sausages, some Pillsbury dough, some honey, an egg or two and some edible googly eyes (you'll need these often, actually) and you’re ready to go!
What To Do:
First, you’ll want to lay out your dough and cut thin vertical strips. Take these strips and wrap them around your sausages, forming that creepy mummy look. On the side, have some egg wash ready to brush onto the mummified weenies, before setting them in the oven preheated at 180 degrees for 20 minutes. For a crispier, flakier texture add an additional five minutes and up the temperature to 220 degrees.
After letting them cool down, you want to dab a tiny bit of honey (or edible glue if you’re fancy) to stick on the eyes.
And just like that, you have a savory snack worthy of Cleopatra herself!
GHOST STRAWBERRIES

I don’t know about you, but chocolate-covered strawberries are my love language—so these spooky Halloween versions have my heart (and my sweet tooth)! Grab some strawberries, white chocolate, dark (or milk) chocolate and those googly eyes from earlier and get to spooking!
What To Do:
First you’ll want to melt your white chocolate over a stove or in a microwavable bowl. After letting it cool for a few minutes, simply dip your strawberries in. When placing it on a plate or cooking sheet drag any excess chocolate down in a loose zig-zag to create that ghostly tail. After letting it dry, you can then get your dark chocolate and repeat the same heating and cool down instructions. Now you’re ready to design your spooky ghost faces, or make them cute and funny with a toothpick, piping bag or a sandwich bag (here are instructions on how to make a piping bag out of a sandwich bag).
Hopefully this spooky sweet treat makes Casper proud!
MONSTER BURGER

This Halloween is your chance to grill up a delicious classic—that bites back! Make sure to have long pickle slices, ketchup, cheese, toothpicks and two olives in order to make this Frankenstein come to life!
What To Do:
First you’ll want to make your meat however you’d like—it’s the condiments and accessories that make the monster magic! For the teeth you’ll cut the cheese edges to make them look like razor teeth. Then you’ll slice a pickle horizontally (or buy the long pickle slices), and lay it sideways in the burger to get that silly tongue effect. For the “blood” you’ll spread the ketchup towards the outside edges of the patty to make it look gooey. Finally, your monster needs some googly eyes of their own! Grab two olives and poke toothpicks (carefully!) through their sides and stick them into the top of your burger.
And voila! You have yourself a savory snack you’ll be dying to sink your fangs into!
CAKE POP EYEBALLS

These delicious snacks are yummy to eat but a real sight for sore eyes, if you know what I mean. Grab some frosted sugar cookies (or premade dough), some white chocolate melts, any color edible decorating gel for the irises, red decorating gel for the veins/blood (optional) and black decorating gel—get ready to wow your friends with this tasty dessert!
What To Do:
First you want to mash up your frosted sugar cookies in a bowl, or grab your premade dough and roll them into two inch balls and set them in the freezer for 20 minutes. While you’re waiting, begin melting your white chocolate and let it cool for a few minutes. After taking the cake balls out of the freezer, poke a stick or a fork into them and dip them into the white chocolate, placing them upward on a cooking sheet or plate. After letting them cool and harden in the fridge for a few minutes, it’s time to decorate! Draw the irises with the color of your choosing, and on top, draw the pupil with the black decorating gel. When you’re done you can grab a toothpick and dot little glimmers into the eyes or trace out veins with the red decorating gel! Unless you wanted to squeeze the red decorating gel around the top to give it that “blood” effect, you're done!
You’ll steal the show with these but you’ll have to keep an eye on these treats—they’ll disappear fast!
OREO WITCH HATS

You have your broom, your wand and all your magic spells—you’re only missing your witch hat! To make these tasty treats you'll need: oreos (for a hack, you can purchase the already chocolate-dipped oreos), milk or dark chocolate melts, strawberries, orange or green (or any color you’d like) colored frosting (or grab food coloring of your choice), and any colored sprinkles.
What To Do:
First you’ll want to melt your chocolate over a stove or in a microwavable bowl and let it cool. Grab a stick, poke it into the side of the Oreo and dip into the chocolate. While you let the Oreos cool, you’re going to repeat the process with your strawberries; be sure to cut the tops off your strawberries to get a flat surface to place on top of the Oreos. Right after dipping the strawberry you’ll place them flat on the Oreos and let them cool together to ensure they bond. After cooling in the fridge for about 10 minutes, you’re ready to decorate! Grab your frosting and your home-made piping bag from earlier, and pipe a strip along the baseline of the hat with the color of your choosing. When finished, grab four little sprinkles and place them in a square formation in the middle of your colored baseline to resemble a witch’s belt buckle. Unless you want to add any other decorations or sparkles, you’re finished!
Now you have all the ingredients to be the witchiest witch of them all this Halloween!
CHOCOLATE PRETZEL SPIDERWEBS

Enjoy this creepy-crawly twist on a beloved classic! It’s super easy to make too, all you’ll need is: pretzel sticks, chocolate melts (of your choice) and sprinkles! For added ghoulish fun, you can add little candies like eyeballs, mini spiders or M & M’s!
What To Do:
For bigger spiderwebs you can leave the pretzels as-is. For smaller spiderwebs, break the pretzels in half. First, melt your chocolate and let it cool while you grab your pretzels and put them in a star-like formation, having one of each pretzels touching in the center. Now grab your chocolate and with the piping bag we made earlier, circle around the pretzels in a swirl. When doing this, carefully make an intentional dip in the space between the pretzels. To finalize that webby look, grab a toothpick and run it lightly through those dips outwards on the chocolate solidifying that spider-web look! Now decorate with sprinkles or any other candies you’d like!
There you have it, a snack all wrapped up in spooky goodness!
APPLE MONSTER MOUTHS

This snack is not only a yummy concoction, but is fun and easy to make with even the littlest ghouls and gremlins! Grab some apples, marshmallows or sunflower seeds, strawberries, peanut butter (or any nut butter or spread like nutella) and some of those googly eyes from earlier!
What To Do:
First carefully cut the apple into fours. Then cut out a mouth shape out of each ¼ of the apple. Fill the opening with the butter or spread of your choice. After that the stickiness will hold your “teeth” into place; grab your marshmallows or your sunflower seeds and place them around the edges for that “toothy” look. To make your monster tongue, simply grab a slice of strawberry and lay it in between your teeth! Secure the googly eyes on top with a bit of that butter and you're finished!
Now you have a menacingly healthy snack to enjoy with the whole family! Get creative by using other random goodies like M & M’s or pretzels for ears or fang-like accessories!
ZOMBIE ALIEN EGGS

Photo and recipe credit to: NutritionwithSammie
Looks like we reached a dead end but before we go, I have one last savory treat that you’ll want to come alive, year after year! All you'll need to make your undead eggs are: eggs (of course), purple food coloring, green food coloring, mayonnaise, mustard and salt and pepper to taste.
What To Do:
First make your hard-boiled eggs (for an easy how-to guide, click here). While those are cooling, prepare purple food-colored water we’ll use later by putting one serving of food coloring to 16 ounces of water. You’ll then grab your eggs and lightly tap them with the back of a spoon to create cracks all around it. You’ll then dip your egg into the purple-colored water for about 2 to 3 minutes. De-shell the eggs and dump the yolks into a bowl and mix with the mayonnaise, mustard and green food coloring. Put the filling back into the eggs, top with salt and pepper to taste and you’ve hatched your next favorite Halloween treat!
Now this season’s hungry ghouls and insatiable creatures will be no match for you! From eerie eyeball pops to monstrous munchies, your kitchen’s officially BEWITCHED—keep stirring up that midnight magic and let the frightful feasting run all night long!
