ASI’s Esports Arena Grand Opening

Please note the corrections below to the previous press release.

Long Beach, Calif. - Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) at Long Beach State University (LBSU) is thrilled to announce the grand opening of the Esports Arena, Sept. 22, located in the University Student Union (USU) Room 103.

With a commitment to enhance the student experience and education on campus, ASI has collaborated with Academic Technology Services (ATS) and former ASI Executives to bring the cutting-edge facility to life. The Esports Arena, spearheaded by former ASI Vice President of Finance, John Barcelona, former ASI President, Jesus Gonzalez and former ASI Executive Vice President, Jeana M. V. Young, is possible thanks to $80,000 worth of funds from the Student Excellence Fund (SEF). These funds helped make the transformation of ASI's Sticks Lounge into the inclusive and progressive learning environment we proudly introduce today.

Iraida Venegas, Associate Director of Commercial Business Operations, expressed her excitement, stating, "we are thrilled with how the space has transformed and look forward to the programming and use of the Esports Arena. Even with our soft launch, there is an incredible amount of energy and excitement."

The grand opening event will kick off at 10 a.m. and feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:15 a.m. Distinguished speakers, including Provost Dr. Karyn Scissum Gunn and key ASI, ATS and USU administrative staff, will address the attendees. The celebration will also include light refreshments, giveaways and a showcase of games presented by the CSULB Esports Student Association.

The Esports Arena Grand Opening will take place Friday, Sept. 22 at the Esports Arena in USU 103. For additional information, visit asicsulb.org/calendar.
