Week of Welcome is students’ best way to start out the New Year right! Each semester during the second week of classes, ASI Beach Pride Events hosts its biannual welcome-back department and student organization fair. With more than 300 student organizations on campus, there is something for everyone!
Whether you use the Student Recreation & Wellness Center (SRWC) to lose weight, gain mass, get tips from Beach Balance, or relax at the spa, you can turn your visits into free tuition by maintaining consistency at the SRWC. Become a participant in Owen’s Condition for Tuition to push yourself, win prizes, and most importantly – stay motivated at the gym!
This November, students from historically marginalized communities are encouraged to speak up, connect and embrace their identities at the upcoming Students of Color Conference. With the theme of “Rise & Resist,” this year’s conference will empower students to work across community lines in order to stand up against social injustices.
For many college students, the professional world is just around the corner. For others, it’s something we’re all too familiar with. Regardless of your career aspirations, you’re going to need to look nice to impress those future employers and colleagues. That’s why ASI is proud to present our second annual Career Closet Pop-Up, in which students can pick out some amazing, professional apparel for free!
Hey, Long Beach State! Are you craving some farm-fresh food on campus? Looking for a place to hang out, haggle and have a great time with your friends while enjoying home-made pupusas? Being a student at Long Beach State comes with a lot of perks! Thanks to ASI and Beach Pride Events, one of those perks is the Movies on the House event series. A new semester means a new set of movies for you to enjoy. All movies will be playing at 6 and 9 p.m. in the USU Beach Auditorium. These screenings are free for LBSU students and $5 for non-students!
ASI is proud to present a night filled with activism, entrepreneurship and inspiration with “An Evening With: Shiza Shahid!” Shiza Shahid is best known for her grassroots work with Malala Yousafzai -- the young Pakistani student who was shot for speaking out in favor of education for girls -- and the Yousafzai family in setting up the Malala Fund.
For Long Beach State members of the LGBTQIA community and allies, this month goes out to you. Throughout October, ASI Beach Pride Events (BPE), Multicultural Affairs and various other campus partners will be hosting an array of events in celebration of “coming out” and taking pride in one’s identity.
