Midterms can be very daunting. Thankfully, it’s springtime, and while we’re at the beautiful Long Beach State University (LBSU), there’s many ways to refresh your mind and remind yourself of the beauty surrounding our campus.
Here at ASI, we eagerly invite you and your friends to come to our events at The Beach. For example, we have FREE music events such as Beach Sound Music Fest happening Friday, March 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the SRWC Entry Plaza. This groovy event reminds you to stay present and that dancing with your friends is good for one’s soul.
Another amazing way to ease your nerves is by stopping by the Student Recreation & Wellness Center (SRWC) to get a FREE chair massage upstairs at Beach Balance or go swimming at the SRWC pool! Students often work on their assignments under the sun and jump into the pool for a quick swim before they lock in again. A perfect small getaway from looking at your computer inside of fluorescent lighting.
Need a quick reset? Don’t forget about our FREE on-campus Billiards available to students Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in PH1 218. The pool tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis. However, ASI also offers FREE billiards at Sport’s Basement, found off campus (2100 N. Bellflower Blvd., Long Beach). This space is available Monday through Friday: 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Additionally, we offer FREE pool on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. This is an awesome opportunity for you to become a pool-legend amongst your friends and classmates!
If you need some Zen in your life, don’t forget that our school also has the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden that you can reserve to visit for FREE! Not to mention, the garden is hosting its Sapphire Spectacular Anniversary Celebration to commemorate 45 years since its opening in April 1981. The garden will host dedicated events throughout the year, and they will be posted on their website and on Instagram. However, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery all year long alongside the peaceful koi garden.
While it can be tough to stay afloat the complexities of managing students and work life, it’s important to remember that we’re only college students for a miniscule amount of time. So, enjoy your time here and create wonderful memories that could last a lifetime. You never know, perhaps your future colleague is awaiting to meet you at one of these places! Don’t forget to meet your new best friend at asicsulb.org/calendar.
