Accessibility Statement
Associated Students, Inc. at California State University Long Beach (ASICSULB) is committed to ensuring that individuals with disabilities have equitable access to our digital content, services, and programs. In alignment with the principles established by the California State University system, we aim to provide an experience that allows people with disabilities to participate, engage, and access information in a manner comparable to all other users.
Conformance
ASICSULB follows the accessibility standards outlined in the Section 508 guidelines (2017 edition) and strives to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, with ongoing efforts toward the updated WCAG 2.2 Level AA criteria.
To support conformance, ASICSULB implements the following:
- Incorporating accessibility considerations into internal policies and practices
- Integrating accessibility into procurement and technology decisions
- Providing regular accessibility training for relevant staff
- Setting clear roles and responsibilities for digital accessibility
- Conducting a combination of automated and manual accessibility testing across ASICSULB-managed websites and digital systems
Compatibility With Assistive Technology
The ASICSULB website is designed to function with modern web browsers and common assistive technologies. Testing efforts are guided by configurations similar to those used by CSULB, including:
- Screen readers (e.g., NVDA, JAWS)
- Browser/screen reader pairings on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Mobile accessibility tools such as VoiceOver and TalkBack
Assessment Approach
ASICSULB evaluates the accessibility of its digital content using a multi-layered approach, modeled after practices used by CSULB:
- Internal self-evaluations by web developers and content editors
- Evaluations by accessibility specialists, including trained testers familiar with WCAG and Section 508
- Ongoing user feedback and issue reporting
- Recurring automated scanning of website content
- Scheduled manual assistive-technology testing on representative pages
ASICSULB may also engage third-party accessibility evaluators when appropriate to support continuous improvement.
