ASI Beach Kitchen Grand Opening

Long Beach, Calif. - Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is opening the new ASI Beach Kitchen, which will serve as a demonstration kitchen for programming and educational opportunities for students. ASI is hosting a Grand Opening event on Wednesday, April 20 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at its location inside the University Dining Plaza. The event will feature an open house, tours, a cooking demonstration, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:30 p.m. Students can also expect giveaways, food, music and campus partners tabling throughout the event.

ASI was awarded grant funding from the California State University (CSU) One-Time Basic Needs Partnerships Micro-Grant Funding Opportunity (AB-74) to build the new kitchen. The facility will be operated as an extension of the ASI Beach Pantry and is a space for programs hosted in partnership with Basic Needs, Family and Consumer Sciences, Beach Balance and other campus partners.

The ASI Beach Kitchen aims to provide students a learning laboratory for the preparation of nutrition-based meals utilizing pantry staples to ensure accessibility for all students. The kitchen will focus on educational programing to serve students' overall well-being.
