Published: Tuesday, 29 September 2020

Let’s be real, social distancing is tough, especially when it comes to making connections with friends. Looking to improve your friendships or create new ones? Join in on some interactive and nourishing virtual programs and workshops to up your quality time with others.

“As a result of physical distancing regulations, many of us have struggled to adjust to the new virtual social world,” said Counseling and Psychological Services Peer Program Coordinator and Beach Buddies Coordinator, Gloria Flores. “I think the transition has been challenging, but students are resilient and have been learning to cope with the help of each other.”

Flores’ Tips for Social-Distanced Friendships

  1. Reaching Out: Even when it’s difficult make it a point to show you care
  2. Communication is Key: If you’re unsure how a friend is feeling simply ask
  3. Be Creative: Try video-calls, online games or watching shows together
  4. Practice Self-Care: Social connection helps to decrease stress levels and feel grounded
