Halloween at the SRWC

The Student Recreation & Wellness Center (SRWC) is embracing Halloween with new spooks and scares for you and your friends!

Check out the continuation of the SRWC Outdoor Movie Series with a free showing of Pirates of the Caribbean, free food and themed challenges! Participants can win prizes by completing a “walk the plank” challenge and a costume challenge with a pirate and ghost theme.

“Free food and refreshments, fun prizes, and a free film—all awesome things you can expect at the outdoor movie!” exclaimed Aquatics and Inclusive Recreation Coordinator Mike Freeman. Freeman.

The Outdoor movie will take place on Oct. 24 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the SRWC aquatics deck. The following day on Oct. 25, the SRWC is throwing a unique twist on a haunted house with the Scary Trails Obstacle Course—a sensory course with visual impairments and wheelchair-accessible components. Participants will be blindfolded or placed in wheelchairs and challenged to guide themselves through an obstacle course with several sensory scares!

“This is going to trick and test your senses in a fun, scary way,” said Freeman. “This will give people who are not visually or physically impaired to get a sense of what it’s like to refrain from using their senses for a period of time.”
