Make your voice heard and vote

Make your Voice Heard & Vote!

Published: Thursday, 10 September 2020

Looking to be part of 21st century change and innovation? Voting is a simple and easy way to make an impact in your community and on the world. Be a change-maker today from the comfort of your own home.

“Voting symbolizes our freedom to determine our future by having a say on what decisions should be made in our society and choosing who will represent us in our government,” said ASI Chief Government Relations Officer Mateo Maya. “Voting affects every aspect of our lives, from the roads we drive, to the taxes we pay, to the education we receive. It is a privilege, and it is important.”

Students can register to vote or check their voting status on California Secretary of State Alex Padilla’s website. Make sure to register at the link provided to help Long Beach State win the CSU ballot bowl - the CSU with the most students registered to vote wins a grand prize. The deadline to register to vote is October 19, 2020.

Mateo’s Voting Tips!

  1. Educate yourself on ballot issues.
  2. Look up the California propositions.
  3. Research the 2020 presidential candidates.
  4. Make sure you have a vote-by-mail ballot!
  5. Remember, election day is November 3, 2020.
  6. You can drop off your vote-by-mail ballot at Long Beach State’s ballot box.

Registering to vote is a 5-minute process that has a positive impact throughout our society! Your voice matters, so make it count in this year’s election.
