ISABEL PATTERSON

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Our Vision

To care for and nurture children
to become happy, confident and successful
in school and in life.

Our Purpose

The Isabel Patterson Child Development Center (IPCDC) at Long Beach State University (LBSU) provides high-quality early care and developmental services. Our goal is to support student parents by allowing them the freedom to attend their classes, knowing their children are in good hands. The IPCDC offers enriching experiences that promote growth, learning and creativity for all children, including those with identified disabilities, special learning and developmental needs. The IPCDC serves as a valuable resource for the university’s academic programs, the community and other postsecondary education institutions.

Priority registration is given to children of LBSU students. When space allows, we also welcome children of LBSU staff, faculty, alumni and the local community.

The IPCDC operates under the umbrella of Associated Students, Inc. (ASI), a nonprofit association committed to serving the students of Long Beach State University (LBSU). The IPCDC is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and is fully licensed and regulated under California Codes Title 22 and Title 5 set by the California Department of Social Services.

As an equal opportunity provider and employer, the IPCDC embraces inclusivity, prohibiting discrimination based on sex, race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, pregnancy, age, sexual orientation, marital status, medical condition, veteran status or disability.

The IPCDC facilities were made possible by the generous donations of CSULB alumna Isabel Patterson, with designs by Frank Sata, a notable architect specializing in early childhood education spaces.

Funding the IPCDC primarily comes from ASI, supplemented by financial support from the California Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Education, CSU Support, parental fees and various fundraising efforts.
